At the high school level, the College, Career, and Future Readiness team provides counseling, career planning, and individualized guidance. CTE pathways, Dual Credit courses, and the P TECH model offer hands-on training, industry certifications, and early college credit. Through a partnership with Southwest Public Schools, the Genesys Works internship provides students with paid, professional work experience, career mentoring, and industry-recognized skills that prepare them for college and the workforce.

Future Goals and Upcoming Initiatives

Southwest Public Schools is focused on strengthening instruction, expanding student pathways, and deepening support for teachers and families. A key initiative is the new Teacher Leader Cohort, which develops skilled educators who help elevate instructional quality across all campuses. Teacher leaders will design campus learning, model effective practices, and support districtwide initiatives that improve consistency and rigor in classrooms.

This work supports the district’s Leader in Every Seat vision, which gives all staff opportunities to grow. Coaching systems, formative assessment practices, and professional development are being expanded. New paid teacher internships in areas such as communications, instructional technology, data analysis, CTE, and school culture will help educators explore leadership pathways. The district is also growing its Enhanced Teacher Incentive Allotment, so all teachers have the chance to earn six-figure salaries tied to student growth. Through the Grow Your Own initiative, the district has strengthened its talent pipeline, promoting employees internally, achieving a 25% promotion rate, and reaching all-time high staff retention.

Student pathways will continue to expand through additional CTE programs, P TECH opportunities, dual credit courses, and industry certifications. STEAM experiences will grow through robotics, engineering challenges, arts programs, and TSA competitions.

Southwest Public Schools is also strengthening family engagement with more parent leadership opportunities and stronger community partnerships. A long-term strategic plan is underway to guide academics, operations, and financial stewardship.
