To highlight the importance of education for a peaceful society, the US annually celebrates “Education and Sharing Day U.S.A”. It was started in 1978 by a joint Congressional resolution. This year it was celebrated on 24th March and it is celebrated in the honor of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson also known as Rebbe. His lifetime efforts for education.

The United States Congress asked President Carter in 1978 to designate the Rebbe’s birthday as National Education and Sharing Day to recognize and honor his efforts to improve education for all American people. Rebbe was a child advocate who advocated for every child to receive an education that would provide them with opportunities for success.

It is appropriate that we honor Rabbi Schneerson and recognize his significant contributions to society. Our great nation is rightly proud of its commitment to the values of liberty, freedom, and truth. Americans also recognize that it is our duty to instill the same zeal in future generations. In honor of Rabbi Schneerson’s and for all his efforts and on the occasion of his 87th birthday, the Congress, by House Joint Resolution 173 has announced April 16, 1989, and April 6, 1990, as “Education Day, U.S.A.

The Lubavitch community, led by Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, a worldwide spiritual leader who will mark his 80th birthday on April 4, 1982, is one of the ideal models for people of all religions on what education can be. The work of the Lubavitcher Rebbe teaches us that knowledge is an unworthy aim until it is followed by moral and theological insight and comprehension.

He has given a dramatic example to the world of the Seven Noahide Laws’ eternal validity as a moral code for all of us, regardless of religious faith. May he continue to grow in strength

To commemorate the 80th birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress convened have given House Joint Resolution 447 designating April 4, 1982, as a “National Day of Reflection.”

Our hearts will always remember all the contributions of Rebbe and other leaders towards education and educating the generations. Education is an important tool because “Education is the movement from darkness to light”.
