Owo’s VR outfit to make games feel real

Follow Us:

Key Highlights:

  • Owo’s VR outfit is here to make games feel real and has already won an Innovation Award at CES 2022.
  • It is anticipated that the vest will alter our conceptual approach to suitable VR games.
  • Owo hasn’t confirmed a price or launch date for the Game vest yet.

VR outfit to transform the gaming experience

Have you ever wished for your video games to cause you pain? We didn’t think so, but it didn’t stop Owo from developing the Owo Game haptic vest, which would let your body feel every punch, cut, and gunshot while you play.

This VR outfit has won an Innovation Award at CES 2022. It can presently give 30 various experiences to users and can interact with games on mobile, PC, console, and VR platforms, with more planned by its designers.

To be fair to Owo, the VR outfit does more than simply make you feel uncomfortable; it can also make you feel like you’re free-falling or traveling at 100mph, and it can even offer you virtual hugs. On the downside, you’ll be able to feel like you’ve been stabbed, shot (including experiencing the exit wound as the slug exits your body), or bitten by an insect.

Fortunately, there are techniques to reduce (and even turn off) the intensity of each experience – so if you like your video games to be pain-free, you may do so while still enjoying a deeper degree of immersion.

Altering conceptual approach of VR games

Having said that, despite how terrifying this Owo VR outfit sounds, we really want to put it on with every sensation turned down to a tolerable degree. So far, the finest virtual reality games have done a good job of immersing us with only sight and sound, but with a third sense engaged, we anticipate our digital environments to seem less virtual than ever.

We also anticipate that the VR outfit will alter our conceptual approach to suitable VR games.

If you’ve ever played laser tag, you’ll know that, while it’s a lot of fun, it fosters a carefree attitude since, at the end of the day, you’re going to go home unscathed, even if your score suffers as a result of being shot.

However, when you switch to a game of paintball, your attitude changes. Paintballs may truly hurt depending on how and where you’re shot – and that tiny dread motivates you to play quite differently if you want to get home unharmed.

Similarly, even if it isn’t going to cause that much agony, we anticipate that the Owo VR outfit will instill enough terror in us to approach our VR experiences differently than we might ordinarily approach a session of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer.

Owo hasn’t confirmed a price or launch date for the VR outfit yet, but we’ll hopefully get the chance to give it a try when we head over to CES in a few weeks.
