New data from Gallup confirms that the personal and professional environment of U.S. workers was worse at the end of 2025 than at any point in the past three years across multiple metrics. 

For the first time since the organization started tracking the life evaluation of the U.S. workforce, more workers are reporting that they’re struggling in their lives. This is a stark difference from previous years, where most respondents said they were thriving.

Data also reveals that pay and promotion satisfaction levels for U.S. workers are at their lowest levels since March 2014. Americans are growing less likely to switch jobs, even though dissatisfaction has reached a new high.

For people dissatisfied with their jobs, upskilling can be a great opportunity to learn new skills that can help you climb the career ladder or even change professions. There are plenty of options for upskilling in every field.
